Alberto “Beto” Perez, a native of Cali, Colombia founded this fitness program in the mid-‘90s. It all began when he went out to teach his aerobics class only to discover that he forgot his traditional exercise music. And just so his students wouldn’t miss out on a day’s workout, he decided to improvise by using his own tapes of merengue and salsa music.

  • Beto speaks with a very thick accent so you might have a little trouble understanding him at first. As you go along the workout sessions, though, you might get used to him leading the routines so just keep dancing!
  • There are a few editing issues which occurred in some of the workouts. If you are one who knows how to keep the beat, then you will see that there are times when the people working out in the DVD are no longer in the same beat as you. But just dance to the music and you’ll soon be exercising in unison.
  • The toning sticks might be too light for some people so you may want to add weighted gloves in order to intensify your arm workout.
  • Each routine is introduced before the actual workout is shown. This could serve as a short break for some folks but for people who would want to keep their momentum, this might be a waste of time.
  • If you want a type of workout that you can do together with younger kids, then this is probably not the best routines for you. First, the dance moves might not be that easy to learn for some people (especially kids).

Mexican beats – those that involve a lot of jumping – can make your kids want to dance. But this is the only portion that you can share with them, the rest can be pretty complex for them.
